Direction: Bala
Star-casts: Vishal, Arya, Madhu Shalini and others
Music: Yuvan Shankar Raja

Bala’s previous venture with Yuvan Shankar Raja was ‘Nandha’, which was incredible showpiece as almost all the songs were chartbusters. Especially the number ‘Mun Paniya’ is still a favorite of everyone. Nearly after 10 years, the duo combo is back with ‘Avan Ivan’. The film starring Arya and Vishal in lead roles is produced by AGS Entertainments.
1. Rasathi
Vocals: Haricharan

Haricharan and Yuvan Shankar Raja have been sharing a wonderful rapport together. Much specifically, the singer has excelled crooning some best romantic melodies for the composition of Yuvan Shankar Raja. This time, he is up with the same musical genre, but it is fast-paced.

2. Dia Dia Dole
Vocals: Suchitra

The song starts off with powerful beats on percussions followed by Suchitra’s wide-opened vocalism on some jingle-type. The usage of ‘Nadhaswaram’ gives a good impact. The complete track is on percussions and suddenly we hear the ‘Saavu Kuthu’. It’s not recommended to be heard on the sound system as it doesn’t impress us. But it’s sure to gain applause in theatres for the dance.
3. Oru Malayoram
Vocals: Vijay Yesudas, Baby Priyanka

The song differs completely from the previous numbers as it’s a soothing romantic melody. The chords on guitars and other instrumentals are so mild. The interludes are so engrossing and Vijay Yesudas’ voice intensifies the magnitude of song. Baby Priyanka sounds more like Bhavatharani.
4. Mudhal Murai
Vocals: Vijay Prakash

The gloomy effect we hear during the prelude itself makes it clear that it’s a song that will happen during critical point of the movie. For the first time, we hear Vijay Prakash crooning such a different styled song. It’s a pathos of a man, who has lost his love.
5. Avanapathi
Vocals: T.L. Maharajan, Sathyan

It sounds like the film’s title song as the singer gives an affirmation that he is going to sing about ‘Avan’ and ‘Ivan’. The beats are sure to flood the theatres with absolute festival. It more or less gives the effect of ‘Paruthiveeran’ opening song. Singers T.L. Maharajan and Sathyan have done a good job. But what makes the song so enchanting are the lyrics.
On the whole, most of the songs in ‘Avan Ivan’ are sounding average for time being. But it may gain popularity as the time passes. But everything is banked on the cinematography now.
Verdict: A different attempt by Yuvan Shankar Raja
